Woot! I sell two of the books that are Middle Grade Nerdie winners, Okay for Now and Darth Paper! Kudos to ALL the winners, and what a fantastic video reveal from Colby Sharp. Well done!

Wow, great stuff and can you get any higher praise than a middle grade boy saying a book changed his life?!?!

Sorry to see the stunning Sparrow Road isn’t there, but all amazing choices.

    • donalynm December 23, 2011 at 10:30 am #

Gae, Sparrow Road was on the Nerdies Finalists list, which includes 97 outstanding books this year.

      • Gae polisner December 23, 2011 at 10:40 am #

Yes, I saw! It’s a lovely book in a wonderful sea of great MG this year!

  3. Mindi Rench December 23, 2011 at 8:25 am #

Colby… this was genius. What a fun way to announce the MG nerdies. I’d read all but Wonderstruck, and I’m planning on reading this one with my daughter after she opens her Christmas gifts.

Colby, I was cracking up as I watched the video. Awesome. Loved Jake as well.

That was definitely a Nerdilicious way to share 5 fabulous books. Very happy about Bigger Than a Breadbox. Way to go Jake.

  6. donalynm December 23, 2011 at 10:31 am #

Outstanding list of winners and I enjoyed your reveal. Tell Jake that I thought Bigger Than a Bread Box was amazing, too.

Very awesome reveal, Colby! Can I let everyone know a secret? I’ve been more excited for the Nerdies than I am for the Newbery and Printz awards. . .

  8. Jen V. December 23, 2011 at 10:51 am #

Very fun! I like the lists where I’ve actually read all the books that win!

  9. Linda Urban December 23, 2011 at 11:13 am #

YAY! I love all of these books! Hooray for the Nerdies!

    • Colby Sharp December 23, 2011 at 11:17 am #

It is a great list. Thanks for visiting Nerdy Book Club, Linda. Your book is top 2 for me in 2011.

    • Donalynm December 23, 2011 at 11:35 am #

Hound Dog True is my Newbery pick this year, Linda. Thank you for writing such a beautiful book for our kids.

      • Colby Sharp December 23, 2011 at 11:39 am #

My fourth graders can’t decide where the shiny sticker should go on the cover of Hound Dog True.
I’m going to start reading HDT aloud the day we come back from break. I hope to finish by the 23:)

Fantastic choices, and I loved the presentation. It really captures what is for me the essence of #nerdybookclub. Keep it up!

  11. Kay December 23, 2011 at 1:08 pm #

I love the books and the presentation. I’m thinking of stealing it wholeheartedly for classroom awards with my middle schoolers. Now to read more great titles that I missed this year! My Goodreads list grows ever longer. I suspect I will have the same problem with Darth Vader Strikes back (and Wonderstruck) as you do. They won’t get much shelf time!

Way to go Colby with the reveal!! :) Jake, you did a fantastic job, too! Okay For Now is one of my all time favorites!!!!!!!!!!!! And I’m so glad that I have Breadcrumbs and Bigger Than a Breadbox AT MY HOUSE WAITING TO BE READ!

Hmmm. Have a feeling that this puts my own personal neediness in jeopardy!

  14. ms. Yingling December 23, 2011 at 6:44 pm #

    NERDiness. Spell check is evil.

  15. Michael G-G December 23, 2011 at 7:53 pm #

Sweet reveal. Loved the chasing after Darth Paper.

I want to go back to 4th grade and have Mr. Sharp be my teacher.

    • Colby Sharp December 23, 2011 at 7:55 pm #

We have a lot of fun in 4th grade:)

  16. Cynthia Alaniz December 23, 2011 at 8:49 pm #

Colby, I loved the video. Jake did a fabulous job! Thanks for the fun way you revealed the list!
I am SO proud of myself for having read all of these books. They are so good, and I enjoyed them all! Hurray!

  17. ohmyloreleil December 23, 2011 at 9:09 pm #

I just started crying. Jake, I don’t know what to say. Thank you so so so so so much.

    Love, Laurel

  18. Kate Messner December 23, 2011 at 9:15 pm #

I love all of these!! (And what a great video, too!)

  19. Donna Gephart December 23, 2011 at 9:51 pm #

Can’t tell you how much FUN that was to watch. GREAT choices in those books. I’m sure it was difficult to narrow down to five with the incredible books out this year. And, Jake, I love what you said about Laurel Snyder’s novel. Every author’s dream. You rock!!

  20. Alice December 24, 2011 at 7:17 am #

OK, you keep living out my dream. To have a kid say that about a book you wrote, amazing!!!! Yes, I just used four exclamation points.

    • Colby Sharp December 24, 2011 at 7:59 am #

I Laurel’s book is helping a lot of kids.
