Interview With Dr. Richard Allington

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of spending the day at a Response to Intervention professional development with Dr. Richard Allington. Dr. Allington is a Professor of Education at the University of Tennessee.  He has served as the president of the National Reading Conference and the International Reading Association.  He has authored several books including: Classrooms That Work: They Can All Read And Write, What Really Matters for Struggling Readers: Designing Research-based Programs, and What Really Matters in Response to Intervention.

For the interview I asked Dr. Allington a question and then hit record. Enjoy!

Why do you think that it is important for teachers and librarians to be readers themselves?

Can you tell the Nerdy Book Club about the Florida summer reading program you helped develop?

Do you have any tips for helping teachers/librarians find accessible books for children?
